Is the Man in the Mirror a LayZ green Person?

Week 2: Turn down your thermostat by 2 degrees (and turn down the temperature in your Home and on the Planet!)

One of the most common battles between males and females in a relationship has always been moving that thermostat line up and down.  This is a universal fight, which knows no boundaries, nor time, nor space.

I'm sure that in the Stone Age, the cavewomen were continually trying to add more wood to the fire, while the men were sneaking them out or saying, "Urgh!  Nuk!  Gruk!"  Which is CaveSpeak for "Do you know how much time it took to cut that tree down?"

In a post-election interview, Barack Obama admitted to Barbara Walters that he and Michelle frequently fight over the temperature in their home – which should make things interesting in the White House.  In Buckingham Palace, Prince Philip probably has a routine of turning down the thermostat in the evenings, while Queen Elizabeth shivers and stoically puts on another layer of tweed.

Luckily for the men, it is winter, so this pledge may be more of a challenge for the ladies.  We need everyone to turn down their thermostat by 2 degrees.  By doing so you can save on your heating bills.  But more importantly, together we can save a lot of energy.  Here’s one more argument:  We’ve seen this year that conserving gas can drive down prices.  What’s a convenience for one family is the difference between life and death for another.  By conserving heating oil and gas, you make it more affordable for families who are struggling to pay their bills.

Ladies, you won’t freeze by doing this – I promise you... perhaps with the extra money you save, you can squeeze in an extra Xmas present for yourself – that new Hermes scarf you’ve been eyeing.

For all the men out there who may be getting off easy on this one, just remember – we’re going to post the same Pledge in the summer, asking you to turn up your AC!

So join us in our pledge to turn down the thermostat by at least 2 degrees this week.  Together, we will turn down the heat in our homes and offices AND on Global Warming!
